Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has urged the Federal Government to immediately remove the subsidy on petrol.


El-Rufai spoke at the “State-of-the-State” session at the on-going NESG, yesterday in Abuja.

When asked during the session that what should be the priority of the government, the governor said, “remove fuel subsidy immediately.”

The governor said his colleagues across the federation had agreed that subsidy on petrol should be removed in September 2021.

El-Rufai said: “Under this istration, we have met religiously, almost every month, because we have only one economy.

“We took a decision to remove subsidy in September 2021. The Minister of Finance also agreed.


“We agreed that the money from there should be channelled into health, education and infrastructure.”

El-Rufai’s comment is coming at a time the price of Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as fuel jumped to N190/per liter from N165/per litre in Abuja. In some States, the price has gone up to over N200.00.

This is despite the federal government spending over N2.04trn on subsidy.

This APC is shameless. These are the same people that fought GEJ back then over this same issue. So the chicken has finally come home to roost. In time Nigerians will truly discover that APC was the biggest scam ever to happen to us all. That is why either LP or PDP must win. Buhari is just too useless, fuel price has already increased to 200 naira even with subsidy in place, at this rate if subsidy is removed, fuel price will go up to 500 naira.

El Rufai had over 7 years to publicly push for the removal of fuel subsidy but chose not to.

The hypocrites is now asking for it with the aim of using this as a setting stone to hound the incoming government.

If he is serious let him organise a protest for the total removal of subsidy and push for it like they did in 2014/2015 and I am sure with such zeal he can get it done before the end of the year.
