Israel’s overnight airstrikes on Tehran have reportedly eliminated several of Iran’s most senior military commanders and nuclear scientists, dealing a major blow to the country’s military leadership and nuclear programme, News360 Nigeria reports.

Iranian state media confirmed the deaths of these five key figures:

Top Iranian Military Generals:

Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri — Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and second only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in military command.

2️⃣
Gen. Hossein Salami — Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Iran’s elite military force.

3️⃣
Gen. Gholamali Rashid — Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Nuclear Scientists:

Fereydoun Abbasi — Former Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and a long-time figure in the country’s nuclear development.

Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi — Renowned theoretical physicist and current president of the Islamic Azad University in Tehran.
