Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s comment about the state of disarray in Nigeria’s opposition parties, acknowledging the internal turmoil within his party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

He, however, said the party will sort itself out.

During his Democracy Day address on Thursday, Tinubu took a bold swipe at opposition parties, expressing amusement at their struggles.

“It is a joy to see the opposition in disarray.

“For me, I will not say, try your best to put your house in order. I will not help you to do so, either,” the President said.

Tinubu also dismissed claims that his government is scheming to establish a one-party system through orchestrated defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In a response that came shortly after the ceremony held at the National Assembly, Saraki spoke to journalists and conceded that the PDP is indeed facing internal challenges.

He called on his party and other opposition groups to focus on self-correction and reorganisation, saying they must “get their houses in order.”

Saraki said, “I think we must take him at his words. I mean, he spoke well, saying that he’s not for a one-party state. So we must take him at his word, and he s a multi-party. So we are all on the same page.

“That’s why we are going around and bringing everybody to come around. So those who say they are under pressure, there is no pressure anymore. So, we’re all for multi-party, and everybody should get their house in order, as he said, he’s not going to help us, so we are going to sort our own house again.”

I think Tinubu need to do more on the state of the economy...after 2years we are still crawling..first the cost of governance should be greatly reduced.

I like Saraki for one thing. The man has emotional maturity! We see it in his response and the style of his politics

Whether we like it or not, Wike is the one running PDP. Everyone is afraid of challenging his hegemony. He has bought most of them by sponsoring their elections.

Crisis between Wike and Fubara, PDP could not handle. It was Tinubu who intervened to arrest the crisis. PDP lost Umahi, lost Ben Ayade, lost Umo Eno, lost Oborevwori; they may lose Peter Mbah, Caleb Mutfwang, and 2027 may be a sweeping defeat. They have lost Dele Momodu who said his soul abandoned the party. They are losing Segun Sowumi. Saraki has not demonstrated seriousness in reconciling aggrieved compared to the seriousness he showed when he craftily outwitted his colleagues to become senate president in 2015.

I suggest they make Dino Melaye chairman. Dino may be a clown, buy you can't question his commitment to whatever he does, even if it is something unethical.

Poor governance and excellent politics. When you can take immediate actions in party politics people will wish if politicians can also apply their smartness in solving the increasing problems of the nation.

The PDP Saraki is counting on to save and sort out the party and fix its problems have already packed their bags and are set to the APC soon. So, I am still wondering who the 'we' Saraki is talking about.
