The Minister of Works, David Umahi has faulted claims by some Northern Elders who said the Federal Government is undertaking more road projects in the Southern geo-political zone of the country.

The minister said such claim which according to him is circulating in the social media is funny and misleading.

Umahi stated this while speaking to newsmen in Ahoada, Rivers State on Friday after a two-day inspection of some federal roads in Rivers and Bayelsa States.

Among the projects visited were the Eleme section of the East-West Road, the Bodo-Bonny Road, the Ahoada-Mbiama section all in Rivers State, as well as the Zarama section of the road in Bayelsa State.

While noting that every part of Nigeria deserves equal treatment and development as a federation which the incumbent President is doing, Umahi stressed that contrary to the claims of the ‘faceless’ group, more federal roads are ongoing in the North.

“I saw what baffled me on social media. I don’t know them, but faceless people that say they are Northern elders are saying more projects are being done in the South than in the North and that is very funny and quite misleading.

“Among the inherited projects, let’s start with the four legacy projects; the North has 52 percent, while the South has 48 percent.

“What are they (the legacy projects). They are Lagos-Calabar 750, you have Sokoto-Badagry 1,068, Calabar-Abuja 465, Akwa Nga – Jos- Bauchi – Gombe 439
.

“And so you aggregate the states and the length they ing through, you’ll find out that the North has 52 percent, while the South has 48 percent, ” he stated.

The minister further explained, “Now, come and think about the longest sections. We procured section one in Lagos which is 47.47 and that is N1.068 trillion.

“We purchased in section two which is about N1.3 trillion, we purchased in section 3 and 3b which is in Cross River and Akwa Ibom about N1.3.

[b]“Now, you see what we have procured, you see 65km plus 55 km that is 120 km, plus 47.47, so we’ll be looking at about 167, call it 170km.

“The one section in Kebbi is more than that and that is 258 km and we purchased the first carriageway which is 968 billion, so by the time you purchase the second carriageway which we will do this month, that will be about N2 trillion, that is only in Kebbi state.

“And in Sokoto state, you have 120 km which is 465 billion. So by the time you purchase the second carriageway, it will almost be N1 trillion”.

Umahi said it is worrisome when people spread this misinformation, as he mentioned that the Sokoto -Zamfara- Katsina-Kaduna which was inherited at zero point completion is about 750km and the total amount is about N825 billion.

He analysed the Abuja – Kaduna sections 1,2, 3, he said the section 1 and 3 is 118 km which is N252 billion, while the section 2 which is 164 km is N525 billion. He said if both are added together, it will sum up to 1.6 trillion.

“So, when the same faceless people talk about the second Niger Bridge, it is N134 billion for section 2A and N174 billion for section 2B. When you talk about Lagos-Ibadan, all that we needed to complete the work form where it stopped last time was N33 billion

“So, when you saw Lagos-Ibadan N196 billion, that is the total contract sum from past istrations and this present istration. So, it’s only N33 billion. So, I don’t know where the jobs that are being concreted in the South compare to North,” Umahi said.

He said, “Let me emphasise that Mr. President is developing the entire country in a fair manner. He is looking at the North and the South, adding that all Nigerians are using all the roads in the country enroute the various locations.

“The real Northern Elders, they have commended Mr. President. The IMF commended Mr. President, the Financial Institution commended Mr. President, the World Bank and the Southern Development Bank of Southern Africa and the Dutch Bank are commending the President.

“I want to say very clearly, that these Four legacy projects when they are completed in the next six years by Mr. President, Nigeria will never be the same again because as we are working, we are connecting all these major roads within the six geopolitical economic corridor, we are connecting them,so Nigeria will never be the same.”

On his assessment of the projects, the Minister said the N200 billion Bodo-Bonny road will be fully ready for inauguration at most December, like the Eleme section of the East+West as well.

Umahi concluded, “Let me say that we are very happy with the quality of work on Bodo-Bonny, very happy with Julius Berger.

“Very happy with the quality of work with RCC (Eleme.sectiom of East+West road), happy with work of Rock Results (Ahoada section), very happy with Setraco. (Ahoada-Mbiama section), bit their speed and the quality of work”.

Buckley was on his back for the 1st 3 rounds though he was a better boxer due to his age and speed. Kamaru wrestled instead. Nice technique by Usman
That's the best thing he could do against a big puncher but if he fights a puncher who can defend take downs, it's going to be a long night for him.

Kamaru is the best African UFC fighter. He is very technical and skillful and deserves having one of the longest unbeaten runs in the UFC welterweight decision. Last 2 years had Leon Edwards at his best and fighting Chimaev the ultimate grappler was not too easy. But he's still got it. Maybe he'll fight Belal the Palestine guy next. They got beef.

Israel will win if he fights a weak opponent. The middleweight division is very rowdy. Even Izzy is kinda scared. I'll like to see Izzy against Michael "Venom" Page. That will be a match that will sell.
This one just dey cap nonsense here. I don't what to take anything away from Usman but try not to dey talk anyhow.

Ask Soludo, Otti, Mba, ask your Governors from the south to the north , they have all testified to how removal of subsidy had helped change the fortune of their respective state. The problem you have is your nonchalant attitude to hold your Governors to as much as you put all your attention at the federal government.

If that project is completed by december I will campaign for BAT in 2027.

You dont even know the stretch of that Road. From Bayelsa to Delta State , Down to Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom. Do you even know how many bridges to be constructed?

Tinubu wont finish it in his tenure. Thats why reasonable minds where calling on him to focus on the east west road and leave the coastal road.

Now both projects wont even be completed in 10 years considering the antecedents of Nigerian politicians.

You people speak so ignorantly with confidence.
You're the ignorant bitter one here, same bitter mouths like you said the second Niger bridge was a scam and will never be completed, Dangote refinery was a scam and will never be completed until 2030. Abeg Tinubu doesn't need your campaign, stick to your Twitter President.

A former presidential aspirant and a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, has accused the party’s 2023 presidential candidate of being responsible for the crisis rocking the party.

Joseph, in a statement yesterday, said since the 2023 election, Obi, who served as governor of Anambra State, had distanced himself from the Julius Abure-led istration, instead of ing forces with him to fix the leadership crisis.

He referenced the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he said Obi did not build but abandoned after enjoying the fortune of the party.

He said: “My attention has been drawn to numerous comments and videos where Mr. Peter Obi continues to blame everyone but himself for the deepening crisis in the Labour Party. From blaming the current president to party leadership and even external forces, Obi seems to be pointing fingers everywhere except at the man in the mirror.

“This is both disappointing and disingenuous. It is laughable that a man who prides himself on competence, capacity, and production — the core vision of the Labour Party — is today a symbol of division, confusion, and underperformance.

“I recently watched a video where he accused the president of being responsible for the party’s woes. In another, he blamed the party leadership. The blame game is endless.

“Let us call a spade what it is: the only person to be held responsible for the Labour Party’s downward spiral is Mr. Peter Obi himself.

“When Obi ed the party in 2022, Labour Party was united. The house was in order. But since his arrival, crisis has rocked the party from top to bottom. The centre could no longer hold.

“This division contributed heavily to our loss in the 2023 general election. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

“How can a man who claims he wants to govern a complex nation like Nigeria not even manage a small political party?

“To all Obi ers, I ask you to think critically: If Peter Obi cannot resolve party-level crises, how will he manage inter-state conflicts, economic restructuring, security turmoil, and national reconciliation?

“Let us not forget, Obi did not build APGA — the platform that gave him his first opportunity. He deserted it when he should have grown it into a national party, like Nnamdi Azikiwe did with NCNC or Awolowo with UPN. Compare that to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who turned a regional party into a national powerhouse that now governs Nigeria.

“Instead of strengthening APGA, Obi ran to PDP for another political meal, then moved again to Labour Party for a third helping — always looking for the easiest path, not the one requiring true leadership and sacrifice.

“After the 2023 elections, instead of returning to rebuild Labour Party and unify aggrieved , he further distanced himself from Barr. Julius Abure — the very man he used during the campaign. Now that the party is in ruins, he blames Abure for the dirt, forgetting he was the one who walked into a clean house and messed it up.

“Let me be clear: I am no fan of Julius Abure, but the shady deals now under scrutiny were made for Obi’s political ambition. Leadership requires loyalty, responsibility, and the will to lead — especially in difficult times.”

According to him, “Mr. Obi is not qualified to be a coalition candidate for 2027. That position must be earned through proven leadership, party unity, and capacity — not mere popularity or public sympathy.

“In 2022, Labour Party was dead asleep. I, Fadojoe, with the Rescue Movement, helped wake it up and gave Nigerians an option. The people were already disillusioned with APC and PDP. Obi benefitted from this public frustration — not because he was a political messiah, but because he was a lesser-known alternative.

“Now, the reality has dawned on many. People are beginning to see beyond the media image. They ask — what does Peter Obi actually stand for?

“Would Tinubu blame Labour Party for APC’s problems? Would PDP shift blame to the ruling party for its internal fights? No. So why should Obi not own up after two years in LP?

“If you cannot lead, step aside. Let those of us who have the vision, the capacity, and the courage to build a united and purpose-driven Labour Party take over. Reorganising this party is not rocket science. Fixing Nigeria starts from fixing ourselves, our political parties, and our communities.

“In 2027, Nigerians must choose a leader not based on sentiments or moral branding, but on vision, capacity, and competence.”

They are not "commissioning projects" though. How do you commission a road under construction? They should be flagging it off instead.
How many has your state Governor commissioned?. Especially the butcher of Kaduna?

You dey mind them, since 2006, nothing was commissioned and they couldn't hold past istrations able for budgeting funds for the road every year but these bitter losers are here wailing about an istration that's completing the abandoned road projects phase by phase.

Hamas exposed Isreal when they launched an attack on Isreal on Oct 7. They breached the "most fortified" nation in the world. Then Hamas launched series of attacks against isreali forces in Gaza killing hundreds of them, above all they launched a drone attack in Nentayahu's residence , luckily for him, he and his family were not around. All these attacks greatly exposed Isreal against a small territory of Palestine that has no standing army. Imagine if Palestine has a standing army with missiles, weapons and technology to defend their territory, what would you think would have happened to Isreal. Not mentioning the Hezbollah, the Houthis who have been targeting western vessels along the coast of red sea. With Isreal attacking Iran who has a standing army with capable battle ready weapons and nuclear power, Isreal is in for a long ride. With China & Russia behind Iran, the US would not be able to help Isreal neither.

Honestly someone got to shut him up, if democracy is not working or nothing good is working in Nigeria, then I challenge him to relocate to Niger, Mali or Burkina Faso and then gather the press and run down those countries like he usually do in Nigeria. Then let's see if he will come back to Nigeria on his two legs or half a leg.

Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebrations took a contentious turn today as political commentator and former PDP governorship aspirant Segun Showunmi launched a scathing attack on Labour Party leader Peter Obi via a post on X. The post, timestamped 18:25 UTC, criticized Obi’s recent remarks questioning the state of Nigerian democracy, igniting a firestorm of reactions on social media.

Showunmi’s tweet reacting to Peter Obi’s quote posted by X Ayekooto (@DeeOneAyekooto) stating, “There’s nothing good about Nigeria’s democracy,” accused Obi of undermining the nation’s democratic progress. He wrote,

“Someone collects ideas from men normal for your eyes. My friend @PeterObi will you keep quiet, if it were military you would have either left the country or been silenced with your rubbish talk about the country.

Do you have any idea what democracy costs? RIP Heroes.” The post is said to reference the historical context of military rule, which suppressed dissent, notably during the annulment of the 1993 election won by Moshood Abiola, now commemorated on June 12.

You need to post 40 characters, that is, 40 letters and spaces, before it will accept your post.

However, those letters and spaces must not be in the quotes

It only counts letters and spaces that are not in the quotes, so you need to put 40 more characters outside the quotes before it will accept your post.

I suggested that you should use the url to make the extra 40 characters.
Yeah I got it, found a way around it. Thanks.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi recently said that Nigeria can no longer be called a democratic country.

In a pointed critique of Nigeria's democratic state, Peter Obi declared that the nation no longer merits the label of a democratic country.

His remarks, delivered during a Democracy Day address, have sparked a flurry of responses, including a notable correction from Jubril Gawat, a senior aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

However, the focus shifted slightly when Gawat took to his official X (formerly Twitter) to address a visual element If Peter Obi's presentation.

“Just small correction for learning purposes: That’s not the Nigerian flag, the flag is GREEN, WHITE, GREEN. No other design or logo or even a single dot should fall into it. Do better for the next E-Broadcast,” Gawat posted, drawing attention to an apparent error in the flag displayed during Obi's address.
