“He cannot achieve any economic, meaningful economic reform in the context of the current political governance structure." what is wrong with "the current political governance structure" that is preventing tinubu from making progress? as a friend of tinubu, is this not an attempt by agbakogba to cover up for tinubus gross failure in governance? these are tinubus words when jonathan was president. now agbakogba is trying to make excuses that tinubu said jonathan did not deserve 1 Like |

lexy2014: Look bro, a minister is more concerned about power than the president himself. I'm a patriotic Nigerian and if Nigeria get better, it's my joy. If you're president or even leader of an organisation, you will understand what it means by uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. When I was young I know former governor of Oyo State ALAO AKALA slapped his health commissioner on life tv. Health workers were on strike and the commissioner was telling the governor something else. The governor got to know on live tv. You might argue a leader needs to be up and doing and double checking, but that's why ministers and other government workers are there. And in Tinubus case, I doubt anyone around him is telling him the reality. Or the ones telling the reality as been labelled enemies to him. |

Agbakoba was trying to suggest resource control which may give more power to the states to manage their resources, but he has failed to review LG autonomy that was granted by supreme court which up till now is still difficult for some state governors to adhere to

Two years in...and all we have is a general sense of malaise. At every press conference, every bilateral or multilateral summit etc., BAT trots out his well worn tales about the 'courage' it took for him to remove fuel subsidies and unify exchange rates. Unfortunately, that 'courage' has now deserted him and he hasn't been able to tackle the chronic inflation that began after his 'groundbreaking' announcements in 2023...and it seems there is no end to it. There is now a listlessness about Nigerians that they can't shake off. At times like these, people look to leadership for guidance - and there lies part of the problem. BAT was always a poor public speaker and his lack of oratorical skills means he always struggles to inspire his countrymen whenever he speaks. Which means...his policies have nothing to stand on...except their own merit. And there also lies part of the problem. Two years in..and the policies are not what we were told they were. Nigerians now have nothing but chronic inflation and empty promises of 'change' that are blowing in the wind. Buhari promised all this 'change' and more. How did that turn out for Nigerians? ![]() |

lexy2014: I can't answer the Emilokan as that is tricky. Tinubu does have good intentions with is gameplan. Executing it was where the issue came to be. Nigeria is not Lagos and Tinubu got to know that in a brutal way. About who surrounded him with sycophants, I believe even if you are a leader in any parastatal, you will surround yourself with your supposed trustees and loyalist. Most of this so trustees are unfortunately not worth trusting as they will feed you with ego massaging lies to make you feel good about yourself. |

Bobloco: Let's start one after the other: You have 774 Local Govt- what was the Supreme Court Judgement to the Governors of the States in Nigeria? - that the State government should have there , SEPERATE FROM THE LOCAL GOVT S! Yet ALL THE Governors IN NIGERIA HAVE REFUSED TO IMPLEMENT THE SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT - IS AGBAKOBA NOT AWARE OF THIS? Why can't he tell Nigerians-on the Implications? What is our governors - hiding that they Refused to implement a Supreme Court Judgement, afterall,it is part of the Reform in Nigeria but some People have refused - directly or Indirectly! Do you want Tinubu to force them, then you will be hearing - he doesn't like the North,he is a Dictator, bla, bla, bla, etc! This is the Reality of Nigeria! |

Tinubu and misplaced priorities are 5 & 6.

KennethOkonkwo: The first ever was floating the naira and subsidy at the same time without any effort to cushion the effect. Most countries are having issues with their economy generally, but the idea is subsidising for the citizens with the basic things that matter. That first bluff Tinubu made destroyed 2years of his istration. We can only look forward to the next 2 years and hope he gets it right. |
merits(m): 9:32pm On Jun 13 |
Agbako can never see something good in this istration so I am not surprised about is own perception at all.

Fujiyama: 9:33pm On Jun 13 |
The excuses have started pouring in. BAT cannot get the compliance of state governors in implementing a Supreme Court judgement. But he was able to get parliamentary approval for a change to the old anthem - without any problems. We are often told that the man is a political 'god' amongst men - a claim which of course is complete nonsense. BAT is only a man. He is only a man! Two years in and Nigerians are struggling to find some groundbreaking pro-people policy or legislation by this istration. Unfortunately, there is nothing. There is nothing! BAT was not the right man for this job. 1 Like |

RE: Why Tinubu CAN Deliver Economic Reform , With Facts, Not Feelings I respect Dr. Agbakoba a lot, but let’s not ignore the facts. Saying Tinubu cannot deliver meaningful economic reform because of the current political structure is half the story, and honestly, it downplays some major steps already taken that many countries are still struggling to get right. Let’s break it down with intelligent analysis, global data, and real results. Tinubu Is Laying the Foundation , Real Change Takes Root Before It Shows Yes, GDP is growing at 3.3%, and no, we may not all feel it yet. But go check how it started in places like India or Indonesia , reforms always start with pain, then progress. If you remove fuel subsidy, unify the Forex market, and clean up corruption, you’ll feel the heat first before the benefits come. But guess what? Those changes are exactly what Tinubu is doing: Key Reforms Already in Motion 1. Fuel Subsidy Gone· * Saved ₦7 trillion+ yearly, now going into infrastructure, health, and transport. 2. Forex Unification· * No more multiple exchange rates. Investors now see a fairer system.· * FDI is already rising, and the black market is shrinking. 3. Roads, Rails, Ports· * 1,000+ km of roads and major logistics corridors under construction.· * Inland dry ports = more trade and jobs. 4. Power Reforms· * Siemens partnership is rolling out.· * States now allowed to generate and distribute power.· * Lagos and Edo already jumping on it. 5. Agricultural Push· * Over 3 million farmers already getting inputs, credit, and buyers.· * Food inflation is slowing down, still high, but better than before. Global Experts Agree: Reform First, Then Restructure * World Bank, IMF, and OECD all say: focus on stabilizing the economy before major power devolution. * You don’t hand over more power to states when many can’t even pay salaries. First, build capacity. Then restructure. Tinubu Is Already Working on Restructuring * A constitutional committee is already reviewing how to give states more power over mining, power, and infrastructure. * Local government reform is also on the table , just not the loud, dramatic type people expect. My final words on this: The truth is, reform stake time. If Nigeria had kept jumping from plan to plan, we’d still be importing toothpicks and wasting oil money on fake subsidies. So instead of saying“he can’t,” let’s track what’s already working and demand consistency and speed , not throw away the only real reform train we’ve had in decades. The hardship is real ,but so is the direction. Let’s not throw away progress because it hasn’t yet matured. @naijapeoplesprosperitypact 1 Like 1 Share |

Why does Olisa Agbakoba SAN not focus on Supreme Court's ruling that mandates direct funds disbursement to local govts that is being frustrated by governors and the local govt chairmen themselves? That is the quickest way to devolve power to the grass roots. With how much money states and local govts have received in past 2 years, what have they done with it other than fritter it away? I will even advocate that rather than sharing the money, we put it in a pot to tackle a key issue like Power.

If my policies brings inflation, increasing allocation to states is counterproductive. The money for the school you can build in 2022 you need times three of that to build same school. The governor's are just in a trap.
